University of Florida Dental School is the dental school of the University of Florida. Located in Gainesville and it’s the oldest university in the state. One of the largest institutions of higher education in the U.S University of Florida Dental School established in 1972, which make the University of Florida Dental School ages older than the University itself. The University of Florida began in 1853 as the East Florida Seminary and became a university in 1905. In line with the Development University of Florida Dental School began to change for better without compromising the original purpose of establishment of this school.
University of Florida Dental School is the only public-funded dental school in the State of Florida and is a national leader in dental education, research and community service. The Faculty are dedicated to train the next generation of scientists that support graduate, dental and undergraduate student at University of Florida. This Faculty is one dental school located in the United States that includes major academic institutions that award advanced professional degrees of either D.D.S or D.M.D.. The University of Florida Dental School has graduated over 2.000 dentists since it first class of 24 D.M.D students in 1972. 97 percent new dental graduates in 2008 passed the Florida Dental Licensure Exam on the first attempt. In 2008, the University of Florida Dental School ranked 4th overall amongs all dental school in the United States for research expenditures. The University of Florida Dental School has a rich tradition of being an international leader in Oral Health Research. University of Florida Dental School has developed educational programs offered such as D.M.D. Program, D.M.D./Ph.D. Program, Internationally-Educated Dentist Program, Advanced and Graduate Education Program, Special Study Program.
University of Florida Dental School now target to improving access to dental care accross the state of Florida, especially for vulnerable and indigent populations, low income and special needs patients; facilitating diversity in the dental education programs. Not just that University of Florida Dental School also established strength in the college by more closely aligning the colleg with key initiatives within the university and Health Science Center through its Statewide Network for Community Oral Health which is this initiatives include genomics of infectious diseases, immunology, autoimmunity, biostatics, cancer epidemiology and prevention, cell biology/cell signaling and pain and neurosciences.
