Kitchen Island Cabinets
Rising in popularity these days is the kitchen island cabinet. The reason for this is that they provide a lot more space. Just think of it. You could be working in your kitchen and run out of counter space, but it would be absolutely no problem because you can just turn around and your island would be there to provide you all the space that you need!
There are many people that get kitchen island cabinets just for this reason, and there are very few disadvantages to having a small kitchen island. When we say kitchen island we’re not talking about a land mass of sand and palm trees in your kitchen. A kitchen island is literally a kitchen counter out in the middle of your kitchen. Of course while this offers the potential for a lot more space, it also comes with problems of it’s own.
Kitchen island cabinets can be a pain particularly because it is hard to work them out so that they will be useful as well as safe in the kitchen. There are many different problems that you are bound to run into with kitchen island cabinets, and they are all equally annoying. Let’s go over them in detail so that you know precisely what to look for and how to avoid it.
The first thing you are going to run into is a space issue. Your island needs to be at least three feet away from the wall for two reasons. The first reason is that you might have people sitting at the island eating or doing other things, if this is so then you’ll want it as far away as possible because the people sitting at the island will just be in the way for everyone else in the kitchen.
The next problem that you’re going to run into is also related to space. If there is no enough room between the island and your other cabinets then you may find that your kitchen island cabinets actually collide with your other cabinets. This might be inconvenient because it can cause scratches. Then again it can also cause people to trip over them when they walk through your kitchen. Because of this it is very important to make sure that you have enough space in between the island and the regular kitchen cabinets.
You’re probably going to find that you don’t have very much space, or you won’t be able to fit everything you want into your kitchen island cabinets. One way to fix this is to remove the divider from inside the kitchen island because then you will have room on both sides. Another way is to try only using one shelf so that you have more room on top and bottom in each cabinet.
Kitchen island cabinets can be a pain but they also pay off in the end because you will not only have more space, but your kitchen will be aesthetically pleasing!
